Our history

Mosaic began as a Korean United Methodist Church in 1997, as part of the West Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church's commitment to racial diversity. In 2004 the congregation adopted an expanded vision to become a multi-ethnic Christian community. It was accordingly repackaged as “United Methodist Church of All Nations,” specifically and intentionally positioned to invite and welcome those of all ethnicities, cultures and nationalities into fellowship of one worshipping congregation.

In following the commitment to intentionally be a church whose members reflected a diversity in ethnicity and nationality, Church of all Nations began making connections with students at nearby Calvin College. Foreign students, American students with international ties, and ethnic minority American students have all become an integral part of the cultural diversity that comprised the church.

In early 2011, with the support of nearby Cornerstone Church, we recast the vision and we began developing plans to intentionally grow the ministry within our community. Our new name, "Mosaic," was adopted to present a fresh start and better reflect the contemporary worship and ministry style we have grown into through the years. In addition to changing our name, we have remodeled our facility to be a more inviting and effective venue for ministry and growth. God is definitely at work here! We have initiated new opportunities for outreach in our community and we are excited about the growth we're experiencing as a result of our renewed focus. It's a very exciting time for Mosaic as we LOVE God, GROW Together, and SERVE Others in Grand Rapids and beyond.
